While at the official opening of the Kinsmen dog park, Bree said, “you know, Kleo, we should have a celebration like this every year! They have special days for others; why not one for us dogs?” Together, they began working hard to transfer the idea to the minds of their owners. Kleo, the Diva, refused to leave the park and Bree demonstrated to her owner, Jack, just how much she enjoyed the day. Jack caught on first and suggested to Karen, Kleo’s human, that there should be a day dedicated to our canine friends! Consequently, Barks By The Bay was born.

And now, on the last Saturday in May each year, we celebrate the special bond between dogs and their “humans” in our voyage through life, hand in paw. This special day is to be called, now and forever, Barks By The Bay, Every Dog Has Its Day!
